We publish how long projects took against what we estimated
A seven-person agency building websites and small products. Every kind of work has a price band, and the estimate accuracy for the last thirty projects is on the about page.
How a project runs
-
1
Two weeks of definition
Paid, and it produces a written specification you own whether or not you continue. About one client in seven stops here, which is a good outcome for them.
-
2
A fixed-price build
Priced off that specification, not off a guess. Scope changes are quoted separately and in writing before anybody does the work.
-
3
Weekly, in the open
A working URL from week one and a note every Friday saying what moved, what did not, and what we are worried about.
-
4
Handover that is real
Documentation, a walkthrough recorded, and access to everything in your own accounts. We do not hold your domain, your repository or your analytics.
No retainers, and we will not host your website
Both are how agencies build revenue that does not depend on doing good work.
A retainer paid every month regardless of what is delivered stops being a service and becomes a subscription to our continued existence. And an agency that holds your hosting, your domain and your repository has made leaving expensive, which is leverage rather than a product. Everything we build runs in your accounts from the first day and you could sack us on a Friday and be fine on the Monday.

The seven of us

Marlon Grant
Writes the estimates and publishes how wrong they were. Founded the agency in 2015.

Simone Clarke
Runs the definition phase, which is the two weeks that decides whether the rest goes well.

Andre Wong
Builds it and writes the handover documentation that most agencies promise and do not deliver.

Tamara Reid
Sends the Friday note. Including on the Fridays when the news is bad.
Notes
EverythingWhat clients say
They talked us out of a custom build and did the setup for a fifth of the price.
- A working URL from week one and a Friday note even when it went badly.
- Everything in our own accounts. Moving agency later took an afternoon.
- They publish being eleven per cent over. We were fourteen. At least we knew.
- No retainer offered, and they explained why not.
- Absorbed an overrun that was their estimate error. No argument.
- Turned us down the first time as too small. Fast, at least.
Before you write
Budget, timelines, ownership and what happens when it runs late.
Why publish your estimate accuracy?
Do you do retainers?
Will you host our site?
Who owns what we pay for?
What happens when a project runs late?
Do you work with small budgets?
Tell us what it is for and roughly what you have
A paragraph is enough. If the budget and the idea do not meet we will say so on day one rather than in week six, and we will tell you what the idea would cost done properly.
Start a project
What it is for, roughly what you have, and when you need it. Two working days.
